Arena Carbon Ultra Open Back Suit

The silver grey Arena Carbon Ultra open back suit is at the top of the Arena race range.  It incorporates the latest technology to aid body position and intelligent muscle compression.

The suit’s outer shell integrates an ULTRA-CAGE with three times more carbon than before.  This enhances Arena’s trademark intelligent compression without compromising reach and freedom of movement.

Next is the ULTRA-LINK SYSTEM.  By connecting key muscle groups and isolating upper and lower body movements this revolutionary system increases the swimmer’s efficiency.  It also improves their body position in the water. By targeting specific compression zones, it further supports and streamlines the body to reduce turbulence and drag.

The ULTRA-LINK SYSTEM is housed in the inner layer of the suit and operates as its “engine room”.   The primary benefits are delivered by three essential features: the Infinity-Loop, the X-Pivot, and Ultra-Compression Panels.

The Infinity-Loop

The Infinity-Loop design is based on a deep knowledge of the key muscle chains that help in keeping a streamlined body position. It employs a continuous tape that:

– anchors on the muscle chain in the upper body for extra support

– links the ribs to the hips while still allowing freedom to rotate,

– connects to the gluteus maximus, keeping the hips high and helping to reduce body tilt in the water.

Together these features provide for the perfect distribution of tension.  This enables the swimmer to maintain an optimal body position in the water, thereby increasing stroke efficiency.

The X-Pivot

The X-Pivot feature delivers intelligent compression and anatomical support without limiting freedom of movement. Its design draws on a fundamental grasp of body mechanics to isolate movement in the upper and lower body.  Strategically placed tapes create a brace which keeps the lower body and core muscles firm and also supported.  All this happens while still allowing the upper body to rotate freely. This movement isolation increases athlete efficiency.  The swimmer can pivot mid-stroke with minimal additional rotation or loss of body position in the water.  As a result, the core body position remains stable even as the upper body rotates and flexes during the stroke.

Ultra-Compression Panels

The panels work with the external Ultra-Cage fabric to deliver targeted areas of additional compression on the inside of the suit.  This supports key muscles and aligns them with the direction of movement. The multi-layer panels also streamline body shape, keeping it stable and high in the water.  This in turn reduces drag and minimizes water resistance, particularly in areas normally prone to turbulence.  These factors all contribute to maximizing the swimmer’s efficiency.

The Carbon Ultra uses a new outer shell fabric which delivers intelligent compression of the body which is the hallmark of the carbon family of suits.   The fabric is woven more tightly and contains three times more carbon than before.  This means the suit is able to more accurately conform to the athlete’s shape, distributing pressure uniformly to streamline the body.   Intelligent compression is enabled through the anisotropic (having a physical property which has a different value when measured in different directions) stretch of the fabric.  This allows differential stretch in the horizontal and vertical directions and results in effective compression of the body without restricting reach and freedom of movement.

Simply stated: greater output (performance) for each unit of input (energy)

We sell the European Arena Racing Swimsuits which often feature an additional manufacturer’s logo when compared to the American varieties. Other than the size of the logos, the suits are identical. Please be aware that the additional logo on Arena’s European Racing Suits may exceed the 2.25 square inches of logo allowed in USA competitions. NFHS (The National Federation of State High School Associations) and NCCA (The National Collegiate Athletic Association) have rules on swimsuit branding and these suits are not compliant with the branding restrictions of these organizations. They are however fully compliant with UK, European and the rest of the world’s regulations

Arena Ladies Race Range Size GuideWhen selecting a size to purchase this website uses USA/UK

HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS: A - Height: To determine your height, stand up straight and measure the distance from the crown of your head to the sole of your foot. B - Chest: Take the measurement over the fullest part of your bust. C - Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waistline. D - Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips E - Torso: In a loop, measure from the highest part of the shoulder, beneath the crotch and then back to the starting point. Body measurements and the corresponding sizes are to be considered a general guideline.  Any racing suit should be tried on before choosing the appropriate size, based upon individual preference in terms of compression.  Swimming stroke and distance may also be key factors in the suit selection.
